Privacy policy
We store nothing about you ourselves unless you give us your email. Two third-party tools, the Pinterest Tag and Google Analytics, do use cookies. Here's all of it, plainly.
The email form
When you subscribe, we store:
- your email address,
- which guide you subscribed from, and
- the date and time you subscribed.
That's the whole record. It's stored with Resend, the service that sends our emails, on servers in the United States. We use it only to send you the emails you signed up for. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it with merchants.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes you from the list. If you want your address deleted entirely rather than just unsubscribed, email us and we'll do it within a few days.
The contact form
When you send us a message, the form emails it to us along with the name and email address you entered, so we can reply. It goes through Resend, the same service that sends our emails. The message isn't stored on this site, and your address isn't added to the mailing list.
Outbound link tracking
Links to merchants pass through a redirect on this site. Each time one is used we record the guide it came from, the merchant it went to, the time, the page you were on, and the country your connection appears to be from. We use that to see which guides people find useful.
We do not record your IP address, your device, your browser, or anything that ties a click to you. There is no way for us to look at that data and identify a person.
Page analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint your browser, and doesn't track you across sites.
The Pinterest Tag
Most readers arrive here from Pinterest, so we use the Pinterest Tag to see which pins lead to visits and email signups. The tag is a small script from Pinterest. It sets Pinterest's own cookies in your browser and tells Pinterest which pages you viewed here, whether you subscribed, and when you click through to a merchant. Pinterest may connect that to your Pinterest account and use it for ad measurement and targeting under its privacy policy.
We never send Pinterest your email address. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the tag doesn't load at all. You can also switch off this kind of tracking in your Pinterest account under Privacy and data settings.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which guides get read, where readers come from, and how many sign up or click through to a merchant. It sets its own cookies and sends Google your page views, an approximate location from your IP address, and device and browser details. Google processes that under its privacy policy. We never send Google your email address.
Like the Pinterest Tag, Google Analytics doesn't load at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. You can also block it everywhere with Google's opt-out add-on.
Cookies
The site itself sets none. The only cookies come from the Pinterest Tag and Google Analytics described above, and both are skipped when your browser asks not to be tracked.
Merchants
When you click through to a merchant, you leave this site and their privacy policy applies. Affiliate networks typically set a cookie on the merchant's site so the sale can be attributed to us. We never see who bought what.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and block abuse. We don't have access to that data in a form that identifies visitors.
